Narada Michael Walden began his career as a drummer and was active in the jazz fusion scene, performing with John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Chick Corea, Jaco Pastorius, Jeff Beck, and Wayne Shorter and Weather Report.
After being mentored by Quincy Jones, he turned to producing and worked with numerous R&B artists and singers of various genres during the 1980s and 1990s, including Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Stacey Lattisaw, Angela Bofill, Tevin Campbell, and Mariah Carey.
