Mahavishnu Orchestra is a pioneering fusion jazz-rock band formed in 1970 by British guitarist John McLaughlin.
Birds Of Fire, released in 1973, was Mahavishnu Orchestra’s second album and became an unusual worldwide hit for jazz-rock.
Participating members at this time were John McLaughlin (guitar), Jerry Goodman (violin), Jan Hammer (keyboards), Rick Laird (bass), and Billy Cobham (drums).
