「Tracy Chapman」は1988年にElektraレコーズからリリースされたデビューアルバム。ネルソン・マンデラの70歳の誕生日トリビュートコンサートへの出演により成功を収め、プラチナ認定、アルバム・オブ・ザ・イヤーを含む6つのグラミー賞にノミネートされ、そのうち3つはベスト・ニュー・アーティスト、シングル「Fast Car」でベスト・フェミニン・ポップ・ボーカル・パフォーマンス、ベスト・コンテンポラリー・フォーク・アルバムを受賞した。
