クロノスカルテットは、1973年にバイオリニストのDavid Harrington（デイビッド・ハリントン）によりシアトルで結成され、1978 年以来サンフランシスコを拠点に活動する弦楽四重奏団。
50年間にわたりミュージシャンが交代しながら活動しており、 最も長く続いた演奏家の組み合わせ（1978年〜1999年）は、ヴァイオリンのハリントンとジョン・シャーバ、ヴィオラのハンク・ダット、チェロのジョアン・ジャンルノー。
カルテットは現代クラシック音楽を含む非常に幅広い音楽ジャンルをカバーしている。
